The Last Mistress

"The Last Mistress," The New Yorker, June 30, 2008

"The Last Mistress," the latest erotic psychodrama from Catherine Breillat, tells the story of a penniless scoundrel who marries a virginal aristocrat, much to the chargin of his previous lover (played by Asia Argento).
No sketches for this piece- I was asked to go straight to the final. Tomorrow I'll post the frenzied sketchbook page that provided the elements for this illustration.

Starting a collection on the cheap

PEP gallery is featured in an article about art collecting on a budget. My "Carole" print is one of the images used to illustrate the story. Read it here.

Laura Marling

"Laura Marling," The New Yorker, June 23, 2008

Here's a portrait of Laura Marling, an 18 year-old singer-songwriter from England. The third sketch was chosen but I was asked to give her the more up-to-date pixie haircut. Comparing that sketch with final looks a bit like hair salon's "before and after" shots.

Read "Young Folk" by Sasha Frere-Jones here.

Laura Marling- "New Romantic"

This week's issue of The New Yorker also features my pixelated pal, Tomby! Together again for the first time!

From the Archives: Health Kick

"Managed Care's Health Kick," American Medical News, June 17, 2006

I came across this illustration and its sketches while I was going through some files last week. It made me smile so I thought I'd share it. The sketch on the left was inspired by the work of Robert Longo.
